Smile Hotel Tokushima

Found hair and the sink was a bit dirty which is uncommon for Japanese hotels. But not a big deal. It was also a bit cold but the air is centralized so I had to borrow extra blankets.

The Smile hotel was located perfectly in the mall in downtown Tokushima, and around all of the restaurants in the area. We took a bus from Kobe to Tokushima, and the bus station was right in front of the hotel which was perfect. The room was really clean. There was a washing machine and dryer on our floor as well, but no detergent available.

There weren't enough amenities. Just towels, toothbrush, and slippers. They also had to be collected at the lobby, just like most of the hostels I stayed at, rather than a hotel where everything is already in your room. Would have liked to receive more goodies and amenities.

Very near Tokushima JR station approx 2mins walk, and also in same building as MUJI. Value for money, breakfast spread is excellent, reception staff took the trouble to print the train schedule from Ritsurin back to Tokushima for the evening trains. Tokushima tourist centre is 0.5min walk from hotel lobby

I had a non-smoking room that smells badly to smoke. I was ols furbished. When there was smoking in the room in the past get rid off the carpet you never get the smell out off it. I had a day after a booking at the same hotel but took a transfor to another hotel. Never again.

Location was good, close to big shops and restaurants.

Bit outdated feel and didn't feel like it was the cleanest of places.

Great location, very close to the station and in walking distance to the Bizan Ropeway

Central location. Next to shopping centre , train station and bus station.

Everything.The railway station just around the corner.The size of the room, much bigger than what we had in much more expensive places in Japan.The coin laundry on the top floor (even if an extra dryer would not go amiss).The incredible price for all this.

Nothing really. Maybe the breakfast buffet a bit expensive, with cheaper options available at the station.

Parking with special rate is nice, the room is standard size in Japan but it is comfortable with very helpful staff

Loved our stay here. Very nice room centrally located. Great staff. Great value. Nice buffet breakfast. Tokushima is a lovely city.

Very central and comfortable, except it was a twin room as no doubles were available.

Parking was 1000 yen per day, not per stay as suggested in the hotel information

Right next to the train station, and pretty close to the bus lines coming from Naruto. Room was reasonably sized. All the usual amenities (ice machine, laundry, etc.)

Nothing much. The 10am check out is annoying, but welcome to Japan.

Location was prime, and the rooms and bed were comfortable. The staff were also very lovely!

Close to the station and Avery comfortable business hotel. Everything you need at a good price. Nice view over the river and mountain. Charming markets on the weekend.

Asked for an 11am check out instead of a 10am. The staff wanted to charge more for this minor accommodation.

Located near JR Tokushima, so is very central. Very convenient with food and drink options around. Has in-house laundry facilities.

Since it’s my first time in the area and not yet familiar, had a bit of struggle locating the hotel because the entrance is on the main road side and not the back where the bus stop was and JR station. Also initially had a hard time with the air conditioning not cooling fast enough but it was ok in the end. The laundry area is also very small, if I remember correctly only had 2 or 3 machines so was very hard to do washing because it just so happened there were other guests doing laundry at the same time during our stay.

Clean and modern room, and it's always nice to have a bunch of vending machines down the corridor for beers and snacks. :) Very friendly reception staff. Location is very convenient, only 3 minutes' walk from the train station.
